Special Buddies
little brown cat began as a venue for the hundreds of photographs that I have enjoyed taking since I was a young girl. For many years, my very special buddies were my two Abyssinian cats, Grendel and Killian's Irish Red. I wanted their character and playful spirit to be portrayed in the logo, as an emissary of whimsical joy.

I have always looked for unique compositions in my photographs. I would like those who view them to feel the peace and enjoyment that can be found by seeing the beauty and whimsy in every corner of life.

Grendel, my Abyssinian cat

Grendel
May 6, 1990 - January 5, 2004

Grendel lived each and every day of his life with unbridled enthusiasm. He was a sweet, gentle, intelligent and amazing cat. He gave kisses, shared corn-on-the-cob, put cat toys in my suitcase and sat beside me on the bench by the river. He loved to leap at dragonflies in the yard and hunt for moths in the woods. He and Killian often raced around the house with reckless abandon, knocking over furniture in their wake. Grendel lived each day with joyfulness and love and, in the end, amazing strength and courage. He passed away in my arms one snowy afternoon, in the sunroom that he so loved to spend time in.

Killian, my Abyssinian cat Killian's Irish Red
April 29, 1991 - December 28, 2007

Killian was the consummate feline comedian and filled my life with zany, comic relief. Although he is sleeping in most of his photos, he was a whirlwind of spirited energy. He loved to run around the house howling and played a mean game of "high-five". At night, Killian quietly watched the wild creatures who passed through our yard from the woods beyond. He was a fearless little bundle and enjoyed meeting them up close through the glass. I once caught him playing "peek-a-boo" with a young deer. On mid-summer nights, he and I watched fireflies in the back yard.......

remains unawakened." - Anatole France
